“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” -John F. Kennedy

Insightful words from an intelligent man. However, change is hard. Change requires us to rethink and regroup, to get used to new things and stop missing the old.

Change occurs constantly in the business world and particularly in the world of technology. Where would we be without change in these areas? Is the change always for the better? More than a year ago, EMC launched its latest version of Documentum: D7. Since that time, users have been finding out for themselves what has changed in D7, including D7’s changed approach to rendering. Previously powered by Adlib technology, Documentum (D7) no longer offers the same level of rendering users are used to, reducing the effectiveness of Documentum for document-to-PDF conversion processes.

This change doesn’t have to hurt

Adlib will be hosting a live webinar to guide you through the changes in D7 and illustrate the gaps between the basic rendering D7 offers and the Advanced Rendering features an Adlib PDF Enterprise implementation delivers.

Although there is reduced support for input and output formats, publishing capabilities that no longer exist and the inability to use the rendering tool as a shared service across multiple repositories outside of EMC, the future is not as bleak as it sounds. You CAN still implement Advanced Rendering technology when you deploy D7.
