Nintex Workflow is #1 Third Party Product to Extend SharePoint

At Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2011 in Anaheim, CA, Rob Koplowitz, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, revealed the findings of its recent survey, Best Practices in SharePoint 2010 Adoption and Migration. (Participants included people from earlier SharePoint workshops, Twitterers, and Forrester clients.)

Respondents said that Nintex for workflow is the #1 third-party product to augment SharePoint. Adlib integrates with Nintex to automate business processes with SharePoint workflow PDF integration. (See this video of the Adlib & Nintex integration.)

As Nintex managing director Wayne Woolston has said about their integration with Adlib, “Ease of use and product innovation are stamped all over this offering."

The Forrester survey found that 57% of respondents are augmenting SharePoint with third-party products: Following Nintex (8% respondents using) was Bamboo Solutions’ Web Parts at 6%, then K2 (another Adlib partner), AvePoint, NewsGator and Axceler each at 4% of respondents.

Respondents were happy overall with SharePoint deployment to date, with 79% of IT users saying they were satisfied, and 73% of business users saying the same. Deployment speed was an issue, however, for many who took the survey; 41% said it went slower than expected, with more than half of them citing technical issues as the reason.

Overall, the Forrester survey found that SharePoint is increasingly becoming the system-of-record, not just a document repository – a big change from SharePoint 2007, with more and more competitors and other technology companies increasing their integrations with the SharePoint 2010 platform.  (As Lucy of The Peanuts says, “If you can’t fight ‘em, join ‘em!”)
