After an 18-month break from the City that Never Sleeps, I’ll be making my return to attend the NIRMA 2010 Conference in Las Vegas August 15-18, supporting our partner, Sword CTSpace.

The Nuclear Information and Records Management Association (NIRMA) is the nuclear industry’s leader in information management. Since 1977, NIRMA has provided guidance to commercial and Department of Energy (DOE) facilities for quality records programs, regulatory compliance activities, electronic records initiatives, document management technologies, and knowledge management issues.

At the NIRMA conference, Sword CTSpace Products Director, Tim Fleet, will give a compelling presentation (technical session #19) on the theme, “Does the Cloud Have a Role to Play for Information Management in the Nuclear New Build Era?” at 3:45 p.m. on August 16.  Have a look at the preview of Tim’s presentation on page 9 of the NIRMA newsletter.

Conference keynote speakers include Robert Brese, deputy chief IT officer for the national nuclear security admin at DOE, and Mark Giguere, lead IT specialist at National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

In addition to the cloud aspect of information management, I’m looking forward to understanding how the nuclear community is using, and plans to use, PDF/A and digital signatures on an enterprise scale.

And you can’t get too far with document transformation in the nuclear space without running into CAD, so we’ll be showcasing Adlib’s CAD module at the NIRMA show.

I’ll have live updates from the conference during the week of the event. If you’re at the show, please stop by Sword CTSpace’s booth and say hello – at the very least we can swap stories on our winnings at the tables!
