ZDNet Publishes Adlib on Corporate Archiving

Adlib Co-Founder Scott Mackey Writes about PDF/A for Leading Technology News Provider

ZDNet, a leading information technology news website owned by CBS Interactive, has published an article by Scott Mackey, Director of Product Management and co-founder at Adlib about corporate archiving and the growing role of the international standard, PDF/A.

Titled "Don't Treat your Corporate Archive Like a Wishing Well," Mackey's article focuses on how PDF/A is a superior method for long term storage of an enterprise's digital content. He challenges ZDNet readers to consider how proper content archival could, and should, be a part of their enterprise's overall content management strategy.

In the ZDNet article, Mackey writes: "It’s not difficult to create a PDF/A rendition of a Microsoft Word file, there are myriad of available products to do so. The problem is how to automate the generation of compliant PDF/A files from the many file types (e.g. Microsoft Office, CAD DWG, etc.) and enterprise business systems (e.g. ECM, PLM, SharePoint) in use. Ideally, the transformation of content to PDF/A, when it reaches the Preserve state in its lifecycle, is part of an automated process that ensures compliance and reduces costs associated with manual intervention."

ZDNet, based in the United States, delivers the latest information technology news, comments and product reviews focusing on IT hardware, software, mobile, security and other specialized topics. ZDNet has national online editions for Australia, Asia, China, France, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom. ZDNet started out in 1991 as a subscription-based digital service called ZiffNet that offered computing information to users of CompuServe, and has grown to one of the most widely viewed business technology websites - with an estimated 713,000 unique visitors per month.
