Adlib Express & Adlib PDF for SharePoint Include Enhanced PDF Archive (PDF/A) Support in Latest Release
Burlington, Ontario - Oct 13, 2010 - Adlib Software, the leader in document conversion, recognition and publishing solutions for enterprises, today announced that it scored a 99% overall accuracy by validating 202 out of 204 test cases included in the Isartor Test Suite developed by the PDF/A Competence Center. Adlib Software has become a member of the PDF/A Competence Center, the industry group dedicated to promoting awareness and adoption of the ISO standard for long-term document archiving in PDF/A format.
With Adlib Express V4.10, PDF/A validation accuracy has been enhanced as the highest quality output ensures that digital content being archived today will be accessible far into the future. Both Adlib Express and Adlib PDF for SharePoint are compliant with the ISO standard and Isartor test suite for PDF archiving (PDF/A) as Adlib Software is able to detect all relevant problems.
The Isartor test is comprised of 204 files which are used to check the conformance of software regarding the PDF/A-1b standard. The test deliberately violates the requirements of PDF/A-1 in a systematic way in order to check whether PDF/A validation software actually finds the violations. The Isartor test suite is available as a free download and enables interested users to determine whether PDF/A validation software can be considered PDF/A compliant. In addition a substantial number of the files in the Isartor PDF/A test suite can be successfully converted to PDF/A by fixing their respective problems. This means that inappropriately created PDF/A files, which do not fully comply with the PDF/A requirements, can easily be adjusted and saved as PDF/A compliant files.
"The Isartor test suite is an important benchmark for any company that works with PDF/A files. It ends the uncertainty stemming from differing results from different validation programs, and allows for comprehensive quality assurance in the PDF archiving (PDF/A) field," said Scott Mackey, Director of Product Management, Adlib Software. "This is critical to Adlib Software as document quality, fidelity and trustworthiness are exceptionally important in industries that are required by government or corporate regulations for long term document archiving."
"By joining the PDF/A Competence Center, Adlib is emphasizing its commitment to developing new and lasting technology standards. PDF/A is used for the long-term archiving of documents that have been converted to PDF from their original format and is currently generating a great deal of interest in the enterprise market," said Peter Duff, President and CEO of Adlib Software. "The company views document conversion and document archiving as a requirement demanded by the market, and therefore we feel it is imperative to support this important ISO standard and to support its ongoing support which includes joining the PDF/A Competence Center."
"We are very pleased to welcome Adlib Software as a member of the PDF/A Competence Center as we know they are very experienced in PDF archiving (PDF/A)," said Harald Grumser, Chairman of the PDF/A Competence Center. We are looking forward to expanding the PDF/A Competence Center's activities in Canada this year in cooperation with Adlib Software."
