Overview
Assurant provides specialty risk management products and services through a large variety of clients to their respective customers. Products include specialty property insurance, debt protection programs, extended service contracts and membership programs. Assurant conducts business throughout North America, Latin America and Europe and has more than 5,600 employees. Since Adobe PDF had become the global standard for sharing documents, the majority of Assurant Group’s corporate customers had requested secure document transmission. These documents include sample marketing campaigns and legal documentation primarily in Microsoft Word™ format. Assurant Group was also running into internal conflicts with original source applications. For example, an employee who did not have Microsoft Visio™ installed on their computer could not view a Visio file emailed to them by a co-worker. Business Challenge Assurant needed to find a way for their employees to share electronic documents in a universally-accessible and secure format. As a result, they required an affordable PDF conversion solution accessible to a wide range of users. Solution The combination of Adlib's conversion, recognition and publishing components entitles more than 1,800 Assurant employees access to PDF conversion through web browser interface. A link on the corporate Intranet home page directs employees to the Express setup page. This wizard allows the user to select up to 10 documents for conversion to PDF, then customized further by merging documents, placing headers/footers and adding watermarks to the final documents. The resulting PDFs are emailed back to the user and/or out to a distribution list. The Adlib combination is a powerful, yet easy to use application that meets the needs of advanced IT personnel to temporary employees. For example, as the solution became more visible to the corporation, employees were able to effectively share non-standard file types from applications such as Microsoft Visio™ and Microsoft Project™. The Adlib Software solution created a self-serve environment for all employees. Even the most casual user now created their own PDFs, which then allowed the internal “Doc Shop” to focus on completing their own work. Features - Widely accessible browser-based PDF conversion
