Burlington, Ontario – March 18, 2008 – Adlib Software, a leader in advanced server-based document conversion, publishing and OCR software, has announced the release of Adlib Express Server 4.0, setting the stage for the concurrent release of four (4) new packages – replacing the existing diversified menu of add-on modules. As Adlib Software approaches its tenth anniversary as a global leader in server-based electronic document conversion, recognition and publishing, it has found itself once again blazing new territory with a paradigm change in its suite of document transformation technologies. Until now, Adlib Software was offered as a fully configurable menu of options consisting of a core transformation engine, known as Express Server, a web services component called Exponent and a series of add-on modules designed to provide an collection of extended functionality. Collectively, these elements gave Adlib Software customers a virtually unlimited array of options to build and customize their own solution. “Unfortunately, with flexibility there is an inherent level of complexity”, said Scott Mackey, Product Manager at Adlib Software. “In the beginning, there were only a few modules so complexity was not an issue and we found our customers appreciated the ability to build their own solutions. However, as our product offering expanded and market demand shifted, we felt it was necessary to introduce a suite of applications that are more tightly aligned with how people want and need to use our applications”. With the introduction of Express Sever 4.0, Adlib Software is introducing Adlib ExpressConversion Server; an application suite that handles virtually any document conversion from over 300 different file types to file standards like PDF, PDF/A, XPS, HTML, Word, and many more. Adlib ExpressRecognition Server is a server-based OCR software that does an exceptional job at turning large volumes of images including scanned images, faxes and image only PDFs into searchable PDF documents. Adlib ExpressPublishing Server systematically adds publishing functionality to document workflows that eliminates costly manual processes. It adds stamps such as HTML overlays, headers, footers, page numbers and watermarks. It builds intelligent Tables of Contents with hyperlink and bookmark management and performs document assembly through automated document merging and splitting – ideal for complex document rendering including Life Sciences submission publishing. Last but certainly not least, Adlib ExpressEnterprise Server is being offered as the culmination of all of the other server products, which will prove to be very attractive to companies that need a wide variety of document transformation functionality as part of an integrated package. “I think it’s really important that we also make it clear that this is not just a rebundling exercise”, added Peter Duff, President and CEO of Adlib Software. “These new application suites are self-contained applications but can be run independently or together to benefit from pure interoperability”. Duff went on to talk about pricing. “Introducing these exciting new products has also allowed us to revisit our pricing model. These new packages represent an opportunity for new and existing customers to get more functionality for less money”. Of specific interest to Adlib Software customers, Adlib will be grandfathering all Pre-Express 4.0 customers with valid maintenance contracts to the newest version without any increase in price. Regardless of whether a customer has our entire suite or only a portion of the Express Server Suite, they will be upgraded at no cost and have a limited time opportunity to purchase new licenses”.
