Business Challenge

Building new documents with elements from diverse sources is gaining prominance in order to repurpose existing content and maximize its value. However, once assembled, the new file may be thousands of pages long, without the necessary tools for readers to navigate through.


Solution

Adlib software will combine documents from disparate repositories, merge & convert them to an accessible format such as PDF, then assemble an intelligent, hyperlinked Table of Contents (TOC). This auto TOC feature creates bookmarks for each file in the order they are merged together and allows the reader to vector to the beginning of the original file. Bookmarks can also be set to a specified point within the document or to external documents when required.

This solution is powered by Adlib’s XML Job Ticket technology which can automatically generate a TOC report for every bookmark in the document. The report elements could include a name or descriptor, page numbers, tab leaders, fonts and links to those sections within the document.
